THE BOOK: Contributors in this collection are African American and Afro Latina authors relating their often shocking real-life encounters--vis-a-vis their natural hair--through personal essays. THE CONFERENCE: This 2-day virtual event will occur August 7th and 8th, 2021.
Overarching goal: Inspire, uplift and build the capacity of youth leadership in coastal states in the United States to address the impacts of sea level rise by storytelling, awareness rising and educating decision makers through experiencing Iceland.
This lesson plan uses Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album "To Pimp A Butterfly" to explore ethnic notions, perceptions of Black women, and Black history through a culturally relevant pedagogy. Originally developed and presented at the University of Mississippi.
